As an emerging artist, one of the most important tools you’ll need in your music career is a professional Electronic Press Kit (EPK)<\/a>. Whether you’re pitching to venues, festivals, labels, or media outlets, your EPK serves as your musical resume and first impression. An Electronic Press Kit is a digital package that contains all the essential information about you as an artist. Think of it as a one-stop shop for anyone who needs to know who you are, what you sound like, and why they should work with you.<\/p>\n

Unlike traditional paper press kits, EPKs are easy to update, share via link, and accessible from anywhere. Essential Components of Your First EPK<\/h2>\n

Professional Bio<\/strong><\/p>\n

Start with a compelling artist biography in two lengths: a short version (50-100 words) and a longer version (150-250 words). Your bio should tell your story, highlight significant achievements, and describe your sound without using generic terms. Write in third person and focus on what makes you unique as an artist.<\/p>\n

Even a well-shot live performance from your phone can work if it captures your energy and musicianship. As an MI student, you have plenty of opportunities to film performances<\/p>\n

List any notable press coverage, reviews, radio play, awards, or milestones. If you’re just starting out and don’t have much press yet, include impressive stats like streaming numbers, social media following, or sold-out local shows. Quantifiable achievements add credibility.
